The Seminole County Jail houses inmates for Seminole County and Donalsonville Police Department. We also house inmates for other counties as needed.

 

Each inmate is allowed to receive a package of  personal items within the first seventy-two (72) hours of incarceration.  After this time, ALL items must be purchased from the Jail Commissary.  Permitted items are:

  • 3-T-shirts
  • 3- Pairs of socks
  • 3- Underwear / panties
  • 3- Wireless Bras

All items MUST BE white and brand new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

 

VISITATION

ALL INMATES WILL BE ALLOWED FOR ONE (1) HOUR EACH WEEK.  ALL INMATES WILL RECEIVE EQUAL TIME

ALL VISITORS TRAVELING IN EXCESS OF 150 MILES WILL RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL ONE-HALF HOUSE VISITATION.  VERIFICATION REQUIRED.

VISITATION DAY AND TIME WILL BE DETERMINED SOLEY BY FIRST LETTER OF LAST NAME.

VISITATION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO OTHER JAIL ACTIVITIES.  VISITATION CAN BE TAKEN AWAY AT ANY GIVEN TIME BECAUSE IT IS A PRIVILEGE NOT A RIGHT!!

 

INMATE FUNDS / COMMISSARY

Inmates will be allowed to purchase other items off the Commisarry. (Beverages, Candy, Snakes, Health items, Stationery, and Clothing.)

Each Inmate will receive a receipt for all money in their possession at the time of booking.  This money will be placed on the inmate's account.  The following regulations govern future funds added to the inmate's account:

  • Money can be left at the front window, anytime seven (7) days a week.
  • Cash, or a money order made out to the inmate, will be accepted at the window.
  • No personal checks will be accepted. No exceptions.
  • Money orders or cashiers checks, made out to the inmate, may be sent through the mail.
  • To be allowed to order from commissary, all inmates' money must be received by 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Upon release from the jail, all funds credited to the inmate will be released, by check, to the inmate during normal buisness hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

INMATE MAIL

Stamps, envelopes, paper, and pens are available for purchase from the commissary.  Inmates are allowed to send and receive as many letters as they choose.  However, there are certain regulations that govern mail

  • Both incoming and outgoing mail must include a return address.
  • All incoming mail must have: Inmate name,  208 Court St.  Donalsonville, GA 39845
  • All incoming and outgoing mail will be checked for contraband, illegal action, and disorder against the facility.
  • Incoming mail containing contraband, or items not allowed, will be returned to sender.

INMATE BONDING PROCEDURES

Listed below are the accepted procedures for bonding an arrested person out of the Seminole County Jail.  A criminal bond is a financial guarantee that the arrested person will appear in court on a specified date.  A bond is not a FINE.  A person posting a bond must appear before a judge to answer criminal charges.  Failure to appear at the appointed time will result in forfeiture of the bond amount and may result in a Bench Warrant ordered by the Judge.

 

A fee of $13.00 is charged for every bond that is written by the jail.  This fee may be paid in cash.  The fee can also be paid with a money order, or cashiers check made payable to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. Non-refundable.

 

Cash Bond

Unless otherwise directed, inmates in the jail may post bond with with an equivalent amount of cash.  If the surety (person posting the money for the bond) does not want the money to be used towards the inmates court ordered fine, they must indicate this fact, in writing, on the criminal bond.  If this is indicated, the money will be returned to the surety at the completion of the criminal trial or plea.  Cash bonds may be posted with the exact amount of cash, money order, or cashier's check.

Professional Bondsman

Inmates eligible for bond may enter into a contractual agreement with a professional bondsman.  Professional Bondsman are in business of posting bonds for criminal charges.  A non-refundable fee will be charged.  There is a list of acceptable bondsmen located in the booking lobby.  The Sheriff's Office will not recommend one bondsman over another.  Please do not ask.  The bondsman you choose, and the arrangement made are, between you and the bondsman.

Property Bond

Inmates may be released on a property bond provided that the surety owns property which exceeds the value of the bond as determind by the Sheriff.  The following stipulations apply:

  1. The property must be approved by the Sheriff in which the property is located.
  2. The surety (property owner) must provide a warranty deed, current real estate tax receipt, or current year amortization schedule (mortgage loan statement from bank) to substantiate ownership.
  3. all owners of record must sign the affidavit on the bond.
  4. All property bonds must be approved by the Sheriff.
