Trail’s End Resort and Butler ’s Ferry Landing
Historical note: Butler’s Ferry once crossed the Chattahoochee River here. At first it was known as Turnage Ferry and it ran from 1874 until 1923. It was then sold to L. C. Butler, who ran the ferry for a very short time because the railroads were taking over in the transportation business. In its time, it was the only ferry in this area and it was a very popular place.
The remains of the road can be seen after the dead end sign at the landing. However, the backed up waters of the Chattahoochee River have covered more than 1,000 feet of a road, both on the Georgia and Florida sides.
